To engage the learners in a study of the Scripture text:
Distribute copies of the “Questions, I’ve Got Questions” exercise from the activity page, which you can download here. Encourage learners to work in small groups to complete as indicated.
Ask the following questions for whole-class discussion: 1–Why did the Lord command Joshua to disable the horses and burn the chariots? 2–Why did the Lord harden the hearts of the Canaanites? 3–What was the significance that the Lord directed the Israelites to destroy the Canaanites completely? 4–Why was the land called an “inheritance”?
